Ruby is the birthstone for July and the gem for the 15th and 40th anniversaries. Ruby is worn as a talisman of personal protection. It is symbolic of passion, protection and prosperity. In Burma, warriors believed that rubies made them invincible. At times, they implanted rubies into the left side of their chest to gain protection in battle.
Historical records suggest that rubies were being traded along China’s Silk Road, as early as 200 B.C.
